LIMPOPO – WITH the release of his afro-jazz album, Iswiluva in May, gospel singer, Themba Nyathi (34) showed his versatility as a musician.
Themba started his professional singing career in 2005 when he released the gospel album, Phakamani.
He released his second album, Jericho in 2007 and Ulungile Jesu two years later.
He has shared the stage with the likes of Rebecca Malope, Sfiso Ncwane, Sipho Makhabane and Mafikizolo.
Themba’s manager, Moses Hlapa, says they had difficulty promoting the albums due to some challenges, and this almost destroyed his passion for music.
He says he was asked to perform at a wedding in 2014 and decided to record a song for the wedding.
His fans loved the song so much they pleaded with him to record an afro-jazz album, which led to the birth of Iswiluva.
“The album features tracks dedicated to the late minister Collins Chabane, Iswiluva and Sibongile,” he says.
He worked with the producer, Junior Mukhari of Fezeka Productions and Hlapa.
Hlapa says the album will be available in record stores nationwide at the end of June, but fans can contact the management team for the album and to make bookings.
