Face of Polokwane to be crowned
The Face of Limpopo 2015 runner-up Maite Makgato will be hosting the Face of Polokwane beauty pageant at the Polokwane Library Auditorium on July 25.
POLOKWANE – The Face of Limpopo 2015 runner-up Maite Makgato will be hosting the Face of Polokwane beauty pageant at the Polokwane Library Auditorium on July 25. Makgatho has been in the modeling industry for five years and she is running her own modelling agency known as Sweetbest Models.
She has won a number of pageants since she started modelling and she has now set her sights on international beauty pageants.
She said the competition is for both males and females aged 13 to 25. “The main aim of this competition is to groom young people in the province and take them away from the streets and introduce them to the world of modelling. I have noticed that most of the youth in our society are giving up on their dreams because they struggle to get help when they need it and this leads to the high rate of drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, and illiteracy among others,” said Makgato.
She added that there will be live performances from local artists such as Muzo Brothers, Mopedy, MpIII, DJ Xtreme SA and Kwenisto Makgakga. The pageant is sponsored by ICollege, Pits Lodge, Sweetbeats productions and T-Square Designs. The entry for models participating in the pageant is free. Spectators are requested to pay R30 at the door to watch the models strutting their stuff on the catwalks.
Matkgato said her friend introduced her to the modelling industry in 2010 and she was just doing it for fun. “I developed a love and passion for the industry, what I like most about the industry is that one gets a chance to do charity work and help the less priviledged.” She further urged models to stand their ground and do what they love most.
