Court denies bail for Scott-Crossley

Mark Scott-Crossley was denied bail when he appeared in the Lenyenye Magistrate’s Court on a charge of attempted murder earlier today (Friday).
He remains in custody until his next appearance on 24 March.
Provincial Police Corporate Communication Head Motlafela Mojapelo said the Public Order Policing Unit (Pops) was deployed at court, where community members were picketing. The picketing was conducted in a non-violent manner, according to Mojapelo.
Scott-Crossley was arrested in Pretoria after handing himself over following a manhunt that was launched following an incident during which Silas Mabunda, an employee of an animal rehabilitation centre outside Hoedspruit, was reportedly run over twice with a 4×4 vehicle in December.
Scott-Crossley also made international headlines in 2004 after throwing a former employee, Nelson Chisale into a lion camp. He received a five-year imprisonment term but was released on parole in 2008.
