Runway diva dazzles with skills

With a passion for modelling, 19-year-old Puseletso Tema aims to help others who want to pursue a career in modelling understand all the different types.

POLOKWANE – The Gr 12 learners from Flora Park Comprehensive High School, better known as Puse, has been modelling for several years.

“My mother always tells me how I used to parade around like I was walking on a catwalk and how I loved to strike poses for photos as if it was a professional shoot,” she jokes.

Puse explains there are different types of modelling such as commercial modelling, fashion modelling, runway modelling, child modelling and glamour modelling.

The young model from Seshego Zone 4 personally loves commercial modelling as she is able to grow her brand and the brand she models for.

“When I first started modelling I didn’t know there were so many different types of modelling until I did some research. I learned, for instance, commercial modelling is all about advertising someone’s product or brand. At the same time a commercial model rebrands themselves by constantly being in advertisements, on magazine covers, in newspapers or on TV and radio. You become the face of that particular product or brand.”

She believes if one has a passion for something they should pursue it, regardless of what others may say or think.

“Many people have told me I am wasting my time with modelling but they do not realise the beauty industry is so broad with so many different branches that there is almost limitless room to grow.”

Modelling, she adds, has taught her many valuable skills such as self-confidence, discipline and the ability to market and present herself.
