An elderly resident of the city can move around her house and smell the fresh air outside again thanks to a wheelchair that was donated to her on Tuesday after she was left stranded and home-bound for several years.
Mologadi Madubaya is unable to use her legs due to an undisclosed condition and received a wheelchair from Democratic Alliance (DA) councillor Khetan Vallabh who is the Ward Councillor for Ward 8, where she is a resident of Extension 71B.
Vallabh learned of Madubaya’s situation during a house-to-house visit in his ward and shared it on a social media group.
An anonymous resident from Nirvana immediately came to the rescue and purchased a brand new wheelchair to help give Madubuya some quality of life again.
“Madubuya was overwhelmed by the generous donation and expressed her happiness about being mobile again. She said that she looked forward to be able to move around again and see the outside world,” Vallabh said.
