MD47 t(r)aps into his music talent
With a drive to make it big following his passion for hip hop, Muano Modau is a 19-year-old who shows promise in the industry.
POLOKWANE – “Growing up I loved listening to music from Migos, 2chainz and Lupe Fiasco to name a few, discovering a passion for hip hop at a young age. Although my family was never really supportive of me following this career path, as they believed it doesn’t offer a stable future and the industry isn’t as lucrative as other career paths. I think they are warming up to the idea, however, as they have heard some of the music I’ve made thus far,” he said.
Going by the stage name of MD47, the youngster from Polokwane Extension 44 produces music in a mix of English and his mother tongue, Tshivenda, as he wants to preserve his tradition and showcase to his fans he is a proud Venda man.
“Trap music is mostly popular in America and I want to be one of the few artists who popularises the genre and culture in our society. It is music for the young and as I am a youth myself I want to use the music to communicate and engage with the youth on the issues they face such as unemployment, the strive to get education and become successful in life because that is mostly where I draw inspiration from. I also work with local upcoming producers so we can help each other to become successful as I strongly believe people must work together to make it in life.”
He added he sings and writes his own music and is doing his final year towards a civil engineering qualification at Polokwane branch of the Sandton Technical College.
MD47 plans to release a five-track album on his birthday, 8 February, on Audiomack, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Follow him on social media: Muano Thompho Modau, Instagram: Modau Muano (MD47) and Twitter: MD47 #MR_Bendor.
