School learners and residents of Myngenoegen came together for a clean-up of the reserve of the road leading to Myngenoegen English Medium Private School (Meps) and Eagles Nest Christian School on Saturday.
Plastic refuse bags were supplied for the refuse collectors and after the event, they were treated with lunch and drinks.
“Our environment was left behind and not taken care of as the grass grew long and litter was lying all over. This precautionary measure was also to prevent veld fires. We requested assistance from all residents to join in a fun exercise and assist by providing their own personal equipment and labour,” convenor of the exercise, Yvette Westcott said.
According to Westcott, the event kicked off at 08:00 with a short meeting and finished around noon. “We are grateful for the help from the community and especially our two schools, Meps and Eagles Nest Christian School for their attendance. Together we can make a huge difference,” Westcott said.
