Enabling the youth to make a success of life
Young entrepreneur Joseph Chuene Mabotja has hopes of uniting the youth and helping them work towards a common goal, which is to be economically empowered.
POLOKWANE – “Over the years I have realised how much harder it has gotten for youths to create opportunities for self empowerment and growth. I was fortunate enough to be able to go and study after school I was then afforded the opportunities in order to grow and make a success of my life, therefore I want to help unite the youth in a common goal, which is to be empowered economically.
He adds that he ensures he mingles with those who are successful so he can learn from them and use that knowledge to better his own life and encourages the youth to do the same.
Joseph is the director of Victors Creative Solutions and Mmotong Youth Community Centre popularly known as Dibekeng which is a non profit organisation which offers various services to the youth in the Mmotong community. The services include: awareness, care and support, children services, community support and development, counselling, nutrition support, information provision, community safety, sport and recreation development and referrals services.
Working in conjunction with SMK Pointing, Thabo is offering the youth in his village a chance to learn skills they can use to improve themselves and change their lives for the better. “We have recently taken a few youth under our wing to train and equip with security skills through a program that is accredited by The Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA). We aim to empower as many youth as we can and ask for the cooperation from those we select as this will help them in the long run,” explained Matsobane Makwela (Founder of SMK Pointing).
