Raising hope by the bag

The Bags of Hope project is an initiative to collect items for those in need and is the perfect opportunity to donate those second-hand goods which are still in a good condition.

POLOKWANE – The pandemic gave a lot of families the opportunity to do some sorting and decluttering. The Bags of Hope project is the perfect opportunity to donate those second-hand goods which are still in good wearable or useable condition.

Keller Williams Realty International annually celebrates RED Day; a day where time, goods and love are given and shared. This year, Keller Williams North in Polokwane decided to take hands with Milestone Events and Training to create Bags of Hope and get many more individuals, organisations, schools and churches involved.

The goal is to uplift and to energise the less fortunate, who have lost hope by donating things you don’t use anymore.

The needs of the eight organisations you can help out vary from small and practical to large goods. All these organisations are registered non-profit organisations in and around our city.

The wish lists include non-perishable food, mealie meal, rice, a variety of personal toiletries, cleaning materials, educational toys, clothes, furniture, a deepfreeze, a trailer for collection of goods, linen, adult nappies, disposable razors, antibacterial products, cutlery and crockery. Gift vouchers for disadvantaged persons to visit a dentist, doctor, psychiatrist and other similar services will be highly appreciated.

More extensive lists will be accessible on social media platforms. “Do not be discouraged by the bigger items on the lists, every donation can make a huge difference,” says Karien Jordaan, Keller Williams North Market Centre owner.

The bags or boxes of goods can be delivered to the Keller Williams North offices’ parking area in Schalk Avenue, Bendor.

Donations will be gratefully accepted from 09:00 to 15:00 on Thursday, 13 May. The staff of Keller Williams North are looking forward to welcoming supporters and donors when all the donations will be received, sorted and handed directly to the organisations on the day.

Cash donations can be made by contacting Dia van Staden at dia.vanstaden@kwsa.co.za or 083 726 1180.

“If you do not use it, lose it to one of these organisations,” says Dia.

Feel free to contact Dia for more information or details.
