Ride, wine and dine in Plettenberg Bay this December

Calling all wine lovers and MTB riders to The Plett Wine & Adventure Festival!

Who doesn’t love the idea of wine, music, food and a family-friendly MTB race? The Plett Wine & Adventure Festival 2022 offers all of that good stuff and more on 16 and 17 December at the 5-star Sky Villa Boutique Hotel. 

The two – day event will offer a full programme of riding, wine tastings, culinary delights and live music at the award-winning hotel set on a hilltop in Barons View Estate. 

Friday will kick off with the Enduro Race at Sky Trails from 8:30 – 15:30. This Fun 5 Stage Enduro format MTB race will be held on the new Sky Trails, in association with the Plett Wine & Adventure Festival 2022. Here are the deets: 

  • Race distance will be about 18km with ±650m elevation
  • Riders will wear a time chip and need to clock-in and clock-out of each stage to get a result – only 250 time chips available
  • E-bikes welcome
  • No dogs
  • All stages are family friendly.
  • Registration at Sky Villa Boutique Hotel from 7:00. Race starts at 8:30. 
  • Tickets available from Quicket. 

Saturday, 17 December features the Sky Fun Run for the whole family at Sky Trails from 8:30 – 15:30:

  • 5km and 10km routes and a walk will traverse Sky Park and showcase the amazing terrain, exquisite views and fynbos
  • Dogs on leash welcome
  • The event will be timed – only 300 time chips available
  • Registration at Sky Villa Boutique Hotel from 7:00. Race starts at 8:30.
  • Tickets available from Quicket. 

Stretch, unwind and enjoy a drink on Friday, 16 December and Saturday, 17 December:

  • Post Activity Yoga at Sky Villa from 16:00 – 16:45
  • Wine, Spirits & Craft Beer Tastings at Sky Villa Boutique Hotel (17:00 – 22:00)

Enjoy the uninterrupted 360-degree view of the Keurbooms River, Indian Ocean and the Tsitsikamma and Langkloof Mountains from the Sky Villa Boutique Hotel, while sampling unique flavours from local restaurants and wines from top wine estates, including Boschendal, Idiom Wines, Fryer’s Cove Wines and Mount Vernon. 

For the ultimate escape, why not spend the weekend at the hotel? Lap up the gorgeous, light-filled interiors, warm hospitality and lush, indigenous gardens. Choose to stay in one of the tastefully decorated, well-appointed, 14 luxury rooms all with their own private terrace. If you are going with friends and family, why not opt for Villa One @ Sky, a stand – alone house with six en-suite, air-conditioned rooms, a shared lounge and kitchen (only available to guests if they book the entire house), a pool and a braai/boma area. 

Also take advantage of the fully equipped gym, Sky/Zen pool with jets, Sky Bar (operational during select periods), the fully stocked Wine Cellar,  Snooker Room, full-service Spa (advance booking is essential) and visit the Art Gallery and Sculpture garden. 

Sky Villa Boutique Hotel is part of the Raw Africa Boutique Collection, who have started the Plett Wine & Adventure Festival with the aim to showcase Plettenberg Bay as a wine destination while celebrating its local heritage and promoting collaboration and a sense of community. 

Festival tickets cost R200 per person per day and are limited to 500 tickets per day, so make sure to book online on Quicket in advance. Wines will be sold directly to the public during the Festival.
