Mall of the North on Saturday celebrated Valentine’s Day early with a singing and dancing flash mob that stopped shoppers in their tracks.
Local chamber choir, Ensemble Esprit and the dancers of the Universe of Rhythm and Dance Company joined forces to perform The Beatles’ ‘All you need is love’ with unique flair in Game Court. The large crowd that gathered on the upper level and thunderous applause that followed were testaments to the success of the flash mob.
Mall of the North management also handed out chocolates with a message printed on the wrapping, wishing shoppers a happy Valentine’s Day.
“This is such a wonderful surprise and idea. What a great way to spice up a Saturday of shopping,” Grace Thema, a Mall of the North customer, said after the performance.
MGM Polokwane Volvo added to the Valentine’s Day excitement by displaying sleek, desirable vehicles in Edgars Court.
Couples also had the opportunity to have their portraits sketched by Zimbabwean contemporary abstract artist Naison Mashinya, who has an exhibition scheduled at the Lighthouse Gallery in Berlin, Germany in April and who used this opportunity to earn some cash to help fund his trip.
