The Rotary Club of Pietersburg 100’s 40th annual Oktoberfest that was hosted at Bolivia Estate on Saturday evening was a huge success with entertainment by Die Ottertaller XXL Band from Germany as a drawcard.
More than 400 guests were seated at round tables for groups as well as some long tables for couples where dancing on the tables were permitted and some of the guests only left well after midnight.
The traditional German meal of eisbein, sauerkraut, kartoffelsalat and bockwurst with enough beer to wash it down, was well consumed and the bar that was stocked with designer gins and other beverages, was well supported.
President of the club, Horst Meyer thanked the community and businesspeople of the city for supporting the event in their numbers. “
”We will again be able to make a substantial contribution to the charities in our community, thanks to your commitment despite tough economic times,” Meyer said.
