eMbalenhle family appeal to community to help them find boy

Thingo Mahlangu was last seen on April 17.

The disappearance of four-year-old Thingo Mahlangu is taking its toll on his family. Alberthina Mgentsu, the toddler’s grandmother, is unable to sleep at night.

Thingo went missing on April 17 and has still not been found at the time of going to print on April 26.

His family is pleading with the community to help them find the little boy.

“On the day of his disappearance, Thingo and his siblings went outside to play with the other children in the neighbourhood.

“He came back to tell me he was hungry. I dished up food for him and after he ate, I allowed him to go back to his friends while I was doing the dishes,” Mgentsu told Ridge Times.

“After a few minutes, he came back eating a sweet. When I asked who had given him a sweet because he knows they are not allowed to take things from strangers, he just kept on laughing.”

Thingo was last seen leaving the house at about 17:00.

“I was still busy in the kitchen and thought he was around the yard. When Thingo’s siblings came inside, I asked where Thingo was, but none of them had any idea where he was,” said Mgentsu.

She said the family began searching for him at the neighbours where he usually plays, but no one saw the little boy.

“Everyone who could, helped us to go all out shouting his name within the community, but we couldn’t find him.”

Mgentsu said they then reported the missing child to the police who also joined the search until late that night.

“I am asking anyone with information as to where my grandchild is to come forward. Please, this is enough now. I am in so much pain,” the grandmother pleaded.

Anyone with information on Thingo’s whereabouts may contact Constable Khutso Sekgobela on 068 561 4505.
