Shalom runners haul medals at the Assegai Marathon in Piet Retief

A total of 19 athletes from the Shalom Marathon Club tackled the Assegai Marathon in Piet Retief on Saturday, 17 February.

The whole team came back with medals in their various distances and the results are:

10 kilometre race

• Sandile Nkosi – 47 min 33 seconds

• Dawn Madondo – 55 min 41 seconds

• Vusi Mavuso – 1:08,13

• Yvonne Msane – 1:10,21

• Jabulile Simelane and Sthembile Maraga – 1:15,09

21 kilometre race

• Mbongiseni Ndlangamandla – 1:40,24

• Busi Shongwe – 2:34,12

42 kilometres race

• Petros Ndlangamandla – 3:16,24 and received a gold medal for being the first master man (50+ category)

• Jeff Madihlaba – 3:35,43

• Themba Nkosi – 3:39,11

• Themba Nzuza – 3:44,08

• Mofifi Hlangawane – 4:01,25

• Makhosonke Dladla – 4:17,32

• Russel Sibiya and Bheki Shongwe – 4:33,28

• Nomvula Mthethwa – 4:37,05

• Sydney Khumalo – 4:38,53

• Shadrack Nhlapho – 4:50,17

The athletes will next participate in the Cosmos 3-in-1 in Secunda on 10 March.
