Evert dies in accident
Funeral took place on 18 November at the Dutch Reformed Church.
SECUNDA – Mr Evert van der Sandt (21) was buried on Monday, 18 November after he had died in an accident on Tuesday, 12 November.
His vehicle hit a pedestrian bridge near Extension 22 between Secunda and Trichardt.
No other occupants were in the vehicle and the cause of the accident is not yet known.
Ms Jenny van der Sandt, his mother, described him as a ray of sunshine who always brought warmth into others’ hearts and lives.
“He tried to make a difference and was always willing to help others.
“He took over the roll as the man of the house when his father died in the Sasol explosion in September 2004.”
She thanked family and friends whom she considers as angels who have supported them during this difficult time.
Mr Van der Sandt leaves behind his mother, his sister Mariska (13) and his brother Andries (19).
His funeral service was held at the Dutch Reformed Church.
