Trichardt needs service delivery

The state of Trichardt has residents and business owners up in arms.

TRICHARDT – Residents and business owners have been complaining about the poor state of the town.

Potholes are so big, motorists have to drive in the opposite lanes.

Sewage spilling from residential and business areas cause a stink and street lights are not working, causing safety issues.

These are among the many concerns they have raised.

A business owner who wishes to remain anonymous, spoke to the Ridge Times.

“We pay high rates and taxes and expect something to be done.

“Our roads are shocking; the municipality will patch the potholes, but then a few days later they will reappear because they are not getting fixed properly.”

He took the Ridge Times to residential areas where the sewage is flowing freely.

“When one sewage problem does eventually get sorted out, another area will start up, causing the same problems.”

“The sewage that runs lie for months, which contributes to the cause of many of these potholes.”

Street lights that are not working, are also an issue that was raised, this time by a home owner.

He said: “Total darkness, one can count on one hand here and there the number of street lights that are working and this is only in the main street!

“We had to put up lights around our property, because none of the lights in our street are working.

“We get too scared to climb out of our vehicles and open our gates, because it is just too dark and very dangerous.”

The Ridge Times failed to get a response from the Govan Mbeki Municipality.
