eMBALENHLE – eMbalenhle Primary School held a career day on Friday, 31 October that was aimed at helping pupils choose a career path at an early age and it was part of the Life Orientation curriculum.
Various stakeholders, such as the police, social workers, nurses, teachers, ambulance services and doctors encouraged pupils to take their studies serious.
Ms Napsy Nhlapo, social worker, told the pupils about various issues in her career, such as tertiary institutions, duration of study, employment opportunities, subjects to choose and the work environment.
She also talked about various services that social development offers to the community.
She encouraged pupils to visit the local social development offices to learn more .
Dimakatso Moshoadibe, Grade 6 pupil who aspires to become a doctor, shared the reason why she wants to be a doctor.
She said doctors play an important role in the community, because they dedicate their lives to save others’ lives.
“If you want to become a doctor, you must study maths and science.
“It is also important to be somebody who is a perfectionist, because you will be dealing with delicate issues.”
