eMBALENHLE – Hostel residents helped the police to recover a stolen car in Extension 2 after they had noticed a suspicious car in the area.
The police responded to a telephone call and found the car with only a front license plate.
They established after an investigation that the car was stolen in Bethal on Friday, 6 February.
Capt Magonseni Nkosi, police spokesman, applauded residents for cooperating with the police.
He said this proves that a relation between residents and police will always produce good results in reducing crime.
He urged residents to continue to inform the police about suspicious activities or people.
“We are asking though that when residents apprehend suspects, to refrain from beating them but to rather take them to the police.
“Mob justice will not take us anywhere and many times when people commit mob justice, the victims become the suspects.”
