KINROSS – Sasol hosted its annual sports weekend which is aimed at bringing fun and also to promote opportunities for talent identification.
Soccer, rugby, netball, tennis and boxing were also played during this past sports weekend in Kinross.
The event was well attended by both spectators and participants.
Elliot Skosana came out in first position with 18 points, Thuto Khanye got second position with 17 points and Gift Makubo was third place with 14 points during senior men’s singles competition.
Senior men’s double winner was Elliot Skosana and Anton Ikeji, second place was Thuto Khanye and Thabo Motaung and third place was Gift Makhubo and Given Makhubo.
Junior men’s singles first position was Nathi Nzece with 9 points, followed by Zakhele Nhlapo with 6 points and third place was Abongile Mpelwane with 2 points.
Junior ladies singles winner was Mokganto Mpiti with 7 points and second place was Irene Masemola with 4 points.
Young boxer Phumlani “Tsikitsiki” Maseko from Badplaas is an example of emerging regional boxers in Mpumalanga.
Phumlani who fights with passion said he would like to be the next South African boxing champion.
“Tsikitsiki is a real fighter and we are proud to have him in our club,” said Frans Muthimunye who is his coach.
Power boxing club from Nhlazatshe, Daatjie boxing club and Lubisi club from Mhluzi also took part on boxing championship competition.
