Johnson introduces Spelling Bee

Pupils want to become Govan Mbeki municipal spelling champions.

eMBALENHLE – Brighten Lives and Bright Life Education services is a non governmental organisation that aims at helping young people to read more through Spelling Bee.

Mr Johnson Munyorovi, owner of the organisation, said he realised the need to introduce Spelling Bee to schools because of the social media lingo which young people are exposed to.

Spelling Bee was first launched in Johannesburg in 2012 and has now expanded to all provinces.

It was designed to help children learn to enjoy reading and the possibility words have to offer.

Zameer Dada from Rustenburg and Faizaan Ganiare from Johannesburg were named the 2014 South African Champions during the Mzansi Spelling Bee national championship that was held in Soweto.

“Most of our children are not familiar with the programme, so I want to introduce it to them so that they can take part in national competitions,” said Mr Munyorovi.

A pupil from Vukuzithathe Primary School said it will help her to be confident in spelling.

Pupils said they want to become the Govan Mbeki municipal spelling champions.

Teachers of the school welcomed the programme into their school.

Mr Munyorovi’s office is situated at the Shapeve Primary School and the contact number is 073 566 0955.
