South African Police Service cluster communication officers donated blankets and groceries to Buhlebethu Drop-in Centre.
The event was hosted by Sgt Matselane Nhlapo from Kinross Police Station and the programme director was Capt Sibusiso Mbuli from Evander Police Station.
Capt Magonseni Nkosi from eMbalenhle Police Station was the speaker for the day.
In his speech he said in 2009 Mandela decided that each of us should try and spend 67 minutes to help the next person.
“As the SAPS we also decided to come and spend a day with you,” said Capt Nkosi.
He committed themselves to always work with this centre.
W/O Khuselwa Matrose from Leandra Police Station had much fun singing with the children during the event.
Lt Bettina Zondo from Secunda Police Station introduced the police officers to the children.
Buhlebethu children surprised the police officers when they told them they know Kinross Police Officers and they even mentioned them by names, including the station commander Capt Philemon Matlala.
The Department of Social Development’s representative, Mr Bongimusa Vilakazi, had a discussion with the children regarding child abuse, drug abuse and other issues which affect children.
Const Thomas Mogadime from Bethal, Const Cynthia Motsweni from eMzinoni and W/O Thabiso Ncongwane from Charl Cilliers handed over blankets to the children.
