eMBALENHLE – Three housebreaking suspects were arrested recently.
The first suspect (20) broke into a house in Ext 26.
Residents who saw him, chased him and a police officer who was busy with an investigation, noticed what was happening and intervened.
He arrested the suspect who was found with the stolen clothes and housebreaking equipment.
After a short interview, he said it was not the first time that he had broken into people’s houses.
He said he once broke into a house and stole running shoes and a tracksuit.
He then led police to where he had sold the items.
On arrival the buyer only agreed to have knowledge of the running shoes.
The police searched his house and found a flat screen television that was wrapped in a blanket.
The second suspect, a 29-year-old Mozambican, was arrested.
The suspect informed police that he bought the television from two men in Ext 20.
The police arrested a 23-year-old Mozambican after he had agreed that he did sell the television to the second suspect and could not explain where they had gotten the television.
Capt Magonseni Nkosi, police spokesman, said the police are working around the clock to ensure that crime is eradicated in the area.
“We urge the community to continue working with the police.
“However whenever you apprehend suspects, you must not beat them or take the law into your own hands.
“That is a crime.”
The suspects will appear in the Evander Magistrate’s Court.
