Fire safety under spotlight again
“We wanted to emphasise the importance of switching off electrical appliances during load shedding,”Mr Mkhwanazi said.
The Department of Fire and Rescue, with the Provincial Disaster Management, Working on Fire and the Department of Agriculture held a fire safety awareness campaign.
The campaign was held at Leseli Combined School in Sakhile on 27 August.
According to Mr Jabulani Mkhwanazi of the Department of Fire and Rescue, the campaign mainly focused on load shedding.
He said most people leave their appliances on during load shedding which can start a fire when the electricity comes back on again.
“We wanted to emphasise the importance of switching off electrical appliances during load shedding,” Mr Mkhwanazi also said.
