HIGHVELD – Govan Mbeki Municipality’s Facebook followers criticised Council after it had posted the approval of name changing in the area recently.
Most of the comments said the name changing is nothing but a waste of money, and that Council should have invested the money in service delivery.
The list of names for municipal facilities and buildings was approved after a notice was circulated to councillors and employees on 11 February.
Mr Bheki Kubheka, acting head of communication and marketing, said notices were circulated with the aim of seeking inputs in naming and renaming the municipal features as provided for by the South African Geographic Names Council.
He said participants were given 14 days to respond.
