Colourful Heritage Day celebration

Ms Lindi Masina encouraged the municipal workers to serve clients with dignity and respect.

SECUNDA – Govan Mbeki Municipal employees wore their traditional attire in celebration of Heritage Day outside the municipal offices in Secunda on Wednesday, 23 September.

Excitement was in the air and the different traditional outfits were very colourful.

The employees were entertained by local music and arts groups, such as Siyaqoba Performing Arts, soul fusion and iMvelo Cultural Group.

They chanted as some employees danced on the beat of the music.

The event was hosted in partnership with local banks and other stakeholders.

Ms Lindi Masina, executive mayor, delivered her heritage message and appealed to employees to uphold their traditions and cultures.

“I take pride in seeing you happy and celebrating your heritage.

“Our heritage is our identity.

“Continue to give good service to our clients and serve them with dignity and respect as our heritage teaches us.”

Mr Bheki Kubheka, acting head of communication and marketing, said municipal services were not disrupted on the day.
