Gogo wants proper roofing for her RDP house

The asbestos roof of an 82-year-old Gogo’s RDP house is beginning to crack and leaks.

LEBOHANG – The asbestos roof of an 82-year-old Gogo’s RDP house is beginning to crack and leaks.

Ms Maria Ndlovu said she does not know what to do because when it rains, water seeps through the walls as well.

“I had to save a long to replace the windows,” said Ms Ndlovu.

Not far from her house, is another RDP house that was being erected in August 2014 but was never finished.

Ms Ida Ndlovu said the contractors left it unfinished and several people visited her house this year and promised it would be finished, but it was not done.

She said the material that was delivered to her house, was picked up and delivered to another house.

“They said they delivered it to my house by mistake.

“My neighbour’s house was also left unfinished and they had to put in the windows themselves,” said Ms Ndlovu.

Ms Ndlovu is now worried, because the Nyaope addicts often use the unfinished house to commit crime and even killed her dog.

There are many unfinished RDP houses in Lebohang, including that of Mr Isaac Mthimunye what was begun six years ago.

The Ridge Times contacted Department of Human Settlement several times for a comment, but they did not respond.
