Stormwater project completed
The stormwater channel upgrade in Extension 10 in eMbalenhle was handed over to the Govan Mbeki Municipality.
eMBALENHLE – The storm water channel upgrade has been completed in Extension 10.
Exxaro Coal Central Forzando Coal and Govan Mbeki Municipality signed off the completion of the project.
This project was part of the social and labour plan that was adopted by Total Coal SA (TCSA), now Exxaro Coal Central’s Forzando South Coal Mine, and approved by the Department of Mineral Resources in consultation with the municipality.
Ms Tulu, media liason officer at the mine, said through Forzando Coal Mine, TCSA provided R3 350 000 for the construction and upgrade of the tunnel for infrastructure development and maintenance.
The project was launched on 8 May this year and was completed on 13 November.
“We managed to complete the project regardless of the challenges we experienced.
“We thank Council for its cooperation,” said Ms Tulu.
Mr Mangaliso Mashiane, regional manager, commanded the mine for the project.
The project was under the technical leadership of Mott-Macdonald and Thalami Civils was responsible for the construction.
