Gogo’s pleas slip through the cracks

She said rain pours inside her house, ruining the furniture and leaving everything else wet.

70-year-old Ms Ntongolozi Thwala, a resident in Sakhile, voiced her frustrations about the bad condition of her RDP house.

The asbestos roof has cracks all over.

She said rain pours inside her house, ruining the furniture and leaving everything else wet.

Ms Thwala also said the ward councillor and the Lekwa Municipality are aware of it because she has reported it numerous times.

“The last time I went there they told me that they do not have money to repair houses, but only have funds for new RDP houses in Ext 7.”

According to her, this problem began in 2001, shortly after the four-roomed RDP house was built.

“Summer is the most difficult season because it rains a lot and everything gets wet, including the beds.”
