Sky high water bills upset residents of Evander

Woman wants reasons for high water bill.

EVANDER – A resident is furious over the high water bills she is receiving every month from the Govan Mbeki Municipality.

She got worried when her August bill was R 6 000 and went to the municipality to query the bill.

She was apparently told that she should hire a plumber to check the pipes in her house for a leakage.

“My monthly water bills are more that R2 000 a month and it is me and my two children.

“I have tried all other means of saving water, including taking my car to the car wash, but the bills are still very high,” said the resident.

The woman said she also approached her ward councillor, Mr Ben Makola, who referred her to the ANC offices.

At the ANC offices, they referred her to Mr Makola.

The Ridge Times forwarded her bill to the Govan Mbeki Municipality and is awaiting their response.
