Residents complain about inefficiency

No forms available at traffic department.

Local residents were upset with the license office at the Bethal Traffic Department last week.

Not only were the queues extremely long, but most of the people were there for a third or fourth day just to get a new license disc for their vehicles.

Ms Era Uys said it was her fourth day in the queue.

“Every time I get turned away for some or other reason and on one occasion, I was told they did not have any forms and that I had to come back the next day while they were off line on another day.”

For Ms Alet Koen had to return for the third day to register a vehicle.

Mr David Mabuza said it was his second day and all he wanted was a license disc.

Mr Happy Maluleka was there every day since the Monday and was told they were offline.

Apparently there was only one person at the counter to cater for the long queues last Wednesday.

From 12pm there were two people and later three people were manning the counters.

Mr Bheki Kubheka, head of Marketing and Communications of the Govan Mbeki Municipality, did not respond at the time of going to press.
