Foreigner accuses police of corruption

Mr Pitso need help to get his items from the police.

eMBALENHLE – Mr Sekhwadi Pitso, a Lesotho foreign national, has been struggling for more than a month to get his personal belongings, including cash, from the police.

He was arrested in February during a police operation and was accused of being in possession of gold.

His passport, two cell phones and R2 100 were taken from him during the raid and were kept at the eMbalenhle Police Station.

He appeared in the Evander Magistrate’s Court in February and was found not guilty.

Mr Pitso was ordered to collect his belongings at the eMbalenhle Police Station.

However when he arrived, he was told the officer who worked on his case, was not on duty.

He returned the next day and was told the same story.

“I do not know what to do anymore.

Mr Pitso is worried because he now does not have a passport.

“If there is another raid and I am found without a passport, I will be arrested.

“I do not know what to do anymore.”

Capt Magonseni Nkosi, spokesman, confirmed that money and the two cell phones are still in their possession, however they said the passport was not registered.

“There was no passport given to the police at the time of his arrest.”
