Concerned parents said it is unsafe for children to walk the streets to ask for school donations.
They said it puts their children at risk of being abducted, abused or trafficked.
According to them, schools should inform parents or increase school fees instead of putting kids at risk when they need more money.
“When schools send our children to ask for donations from the public, an adult should accompany them.
“The school governing bodies and the Department of Education must look into this matter before something bad happens to our children.
“We all know that Evander is a hub for drug dealers and drug lords.
“The schools must take responsibility.”
Parents said they are not against school fundraising projects, but they have a problem with the way it is done.
“There are many safe and effective fundraising strategies that schools can adopt, such as talent shows.
“Parents can also contribute their favourite recipes which the schools can publish and sell.
“We are appealing to parents to say no to school fundraising projects that require children to ask for donations.”
The Department of Education did not comment.
