eMBALENHLE – Residents of Extension 15 rescued two girls aged 16 and 19 from an alleged brothel in the area.
Residents suspected that the girls were trafficked and used for sex work.
The residents were concerned that young girls were involved in sex work in the area and went to the house to investigate.
On arrival, they found the girls who admitted that they were doing sex work.
The residents then took the girls to the eMbalenhle Police Station.
The girls said they were from eMpangeni and they have been in the area for almost two weeks.
The 16-year-old girl told the newspaper that she wants to go home as she could not keep up with the job.
While her friend, who allegedly recruited her, said she is comfortable with the work.
Police made arrangements that the girls are sent back home pending the investigations.
No one was arrested.
