Ntokozo help his peers love education
Ntokozo Nzima led his friends into establishing an organisation which will help high school learners improve their results.
eMBALENHLE – Ntokozo Nzima (19) is passionate about education and has a dream of helping students to take their academics to another level.
He and his friends have established an organisation, Ignite Academic Solutions, which is aimed at helping learners with their academics during holidays.
Ntokozo was born and raised in eMbalenhle and began his schooling at eMbalenhle Primary School. He matriculated at Kiriyatswane Secondary school.
He is currently studying B.Com in Information Systems at Wits and he is intending to change next year to Bachelor of Education (BEd).
He said he has discovered his love for teaching and learning and that he is ready to pursue his dreams.
“Though I am good in what I am currently doing, I do not have a passion for it.
“I am passionate about education and I believe that it will help me to contribute positively to my community.
“I always loved teaching but my current course was imposed to me indirectly. I was told that teaching is not for smart people which is not true.
“The myth that education is not for smart, must be dealt with because it destroys the education system in our country.
“ I think people should chose careers they are passionate about.”
Speaking about the Ignite Academic Solutions, Ntokozo said he came up with the idea last after he had been struggling to find a part time job in the retail industry.
He then thought to himself that rather to sit at home and do nothing, he should began helping high school learners with their academics.
He then approached his friends who are university students and together they began Ignite Academic Solutions.
A total of 20 locals currently receive tutoring during school holidays.
“We do not only offer classes, we have an hour which is called an Ignite Hour where we talk about our life experiences.
“We share things that helped us to be able to go to university, although our parents were not equipped to take us there.
“We also have a teacher who is mentoring and assisting us on how we can grow.
“The learners do pay as it is a form of sustaining and making sure that everything is in order.”
