NDP Foundation gives back to community in eMbalenhle
Support the needy by getting involved
eMBALENHLE – Volunteers of Nkosi Da Poet Foundation (NDP) collected items from shops in eMbalenhle on Monday, 18 March, and managed to collect maize meal and 10kg of Russian sausages to donate to the needy.
Mr Nkosinathi Hleza, founder of NDP, said some shops committed to donate items monthly.
“There are a few shops that donates money instead of food. I use it to buy something in the same shop and write it down as that specific’s shops’ contribution,” said Mr Hleza.
He spoiled needy children with lunch at the Mall@eMba.
“I want to encourage people to open their hearts and always focus on the good that will come from it.
“To eradicate poverty is still our objective and since this initiative began, it has been enabling us to help needy families until they are back on their feet.
The foundation recently donated clothes and food to needy families. They also recently hosted a fun day for the needy children.
Mr Hleza gave the responsibility of running a stall to the children and they were able to raise R304 for the foundation.
“I believe entrepreneurship begins at an early age, especially when one is under pressure to find ways to survive.”
Mr Hleza opened a spaza shop opposite his home when he was in Grade 5 to help support his family that was run by a single mother.
“I did not use the excuse of growing up without a father.
The NDP Foundation has a “One can/One item” project where those interested can donate.
Basic items like toothpaste, toothbrushes or Vaseline, canned items or rice, maize meal, flour or salt are welcomed.
Residents can take items or donations to the Uxolo Lwethu Bakery in Extension 14 in eMbalenhle, or contact Mr Hleza at 079 661 0467 for more information.
He thanked the shop owners for contributing to his cause.
