Rapha walks for awareness at Secunda parkrun
Group invites public to take part in walk for Fibromyalgia

SECUNDA – A support group in Secunda, Rapha which means healing, will be creating awareness of the illness, Fibromyalgia, by wearing purple and taking part in the Secunda parkrun on Saturday, 18 May.
Fibromyalgia is a disorder that causes widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues.
Ms Rita Meyer, founder of the support group, said May is Fibromyalgia awareness month and a purple butterfly is the national symbol of support for this disorder.
She encouraged the public to join them by taking part in the parkrun in Secunda.
They will meet at 7.30am at the Secunda parkrun and all the supporters must wear purple.
She said those who do not want to walk the full 5km as part of the parkrun can only walk a short distance and then turn around.
Ms Meyer said, according to research, the tiredness experienced by people suffering from Fibromyalgia, is equal to healthy people who have not slept for three days.
