Phethile Sibanyoni returns after Clash of the Choirs to inspire the youth in Wesselton

“My hustle began when I finished school and saw a need for mentoring young girls, as I already had a lovey daughter,” said Ms Sibanyoni.

Ms Phethile Sibanyoni returned to her hometown of Wesselton to help and inspire young talented artists, as she noticed during her journey that most young gifted artists are lacking the foundation of performing arts.

“My hustle began when I finished school and saw the need for mentoring young girls as I already had a daughter,” said Ms Sibanyoni.

She began her higher education in marketing at Gert Sibande College when she learned about the auditions for Clash of the Choirs.

With a better future for her daughter in mind, she decided to enter.

After her studies, she decided to give back to her community and joined Lindile Secondary School to work with the Grade 12 students to dramatise novels, poems and short stories.

“I believe that the students’ matric percentage have fallen because they do not always understand the written words, but by seeing the novel or short story on stage they will understand it better as well as be interested in learning more about it.”
