Take preventative measures to safeguard your kids

“Teach your children to avoid short cuts and rather stay in the open where they are safe. There are safety in numbers, so rather walk to and from school in a group,” she said.

SECUNDA – The Secunda Police are calling on parents to be watchful of their children.

Capt Bettina Zondo said the end-year exams are beginning, which means that children will be at home often during the day, or will have to commute at different times.

“Some children will be walking alone to and from school. Teach your children to avoid short cuts and rather stay in the open where they are safe. There are safety in numbers, so rather walk to and from school in a group,” she said.

Capt Zondo warned parents of small children to keep them close when going to town.

“We ask that parents are cautious not to let their children run off in town. Let us prevent cases where children go missing.”

Fraud is also high in Secunda, according to Capt Zondo.

“Take care of yourself, especially when you withdraw money from an ATM,” said Capt Zondo.
