Residents can now register for indigent programme

HIGHVELD – Govan Mbeki Municipality kicked off with its indigent programme in February.
Mr Lucky Mhlongo of the municipality communications department, said residents will have a chance until 12 April every Saturday and Sunday to register.
Municipal staff will help residents at various venues in eMbalenhle, Charl Cilliers, Kinross, Leandra, Lebohang, Eendracht, Bethal, eMzinoni and Secunda.
The registration process will be open from 8am to 4pm.
In eMbalenhle the venues include the fire station, Lifalethu Primary School, eMbalenhle Primary School, Vukuzithathe Primary School, Basizeni Special School, Shapeve
Primary School, Maphala Gulube School, Pretty Bright Creche, Mazabane Church and eMbalenhle South Hall (tent).
In Charl Cilliers and Kinross residents can register at the Charl Ciliers Hall and the Kinross municipal offices in Extension 25 respectively.
The Lebohang Civic Centre and the Lindokuhle Créche in Lebohang will be open every Saturday and Sunday for registrations.
In Bethal residents can register at the open ground in Extension 23 (tent), Sakhisizwe School (Saed Clinic), Vukanini School, the municipal offices, Khwezi School in Extension 23 or the Langlihle Primary School near the fire station. And Secunda residents can register at the municipality (Shell House).
Mr Mhlongo said registration is meant to ensure that residents who qualify for indigent social packages are documented to enable them to gain access to free basic services.
Residents who wish to register, need to take along a certified ID copy, proof of property ownership, proof of income (if you earn R3 800 or less), an affidavit confirming unemployment and a municipal account statement.
