Motorist swerves out for broken down truck and crashes into ditch near Kinross
The motorist swerved out to avoid the truck, but in the process, the ride-along was knocked over and the BMW ploughed down a steep embankment and through a farmer's border fence, ending up about 150m from the truck.
KINROSS – A motorist crashed his car when he tried to avoid a stationary truck blocking the R547 between Kinross and the 50/50 intersection towards Kriel, this morning, 5 March.
The accident happened at about 3.30am.
According to information received, the truck’s tyres burst and the truck ended up obstructing the road.
The driver and a ride-along were inspecting the damage when a BMW came towards them from the direction of Kinross.
The motorist swerved out to avoid the truck, but in the process, the ride-along was knocked over and the BMW ploughed down a steep embankment and through a farmer’s border fence, ending up about 150m from the truck.
The ride-along and a woman in the BMW sustained moderate injuries.
The motorist and another woman in the BMW sustained minor injuries.
ER24 transported the injured to Evander Provincial Hospital and Mediclinic Highveld.
Kriel Police and CJ towing were on the scene.
