Lathoma Drop-in Community Centre directors are thankful for help
Get involved and support needy children
eMBALENHLE – The volunteers at the Lathoma Drop-in Community Centre thanked the community and businesses for donations and support.
This non-profit organisation was founded in the beginning of 2018 and their aim is to feed children who do not have food at home.
They daily feed about 170 kids.
The drop-in centre is open from Monday to Friday in the afternoons after school and learners can pass by there and receive a decent meal before going home.
The directors of the centre, Messrs Chris Nsama, Philemon Madutlela and William Cebekulu, said they are dependent on donations from the public and businesses to keep the centre open and running.
They do not receive any donations or grants from the government and Roots Butchery in eMba Mall is currently supporting them.
“If it were not for Roots, we would not have been able to feed the children,” said Mr Madutlela.
“Roots is really ploughing back into the community where they are situated.”
The centre is located at the Emmanuel Church in Extension 1 in eMbalenhle.
They want to get involved in helping the elderly and those living with chronic diseases.
