One Covid-19 case confirmed in Standerton
Field testers will be able to identify themselves with ID badges, t-shirts, identity documents and will always be accompanied by police officers.
Minutes ago, the communications manager of the Lekwa Municipality confirmed that one resident of the area has tested positive for the coronavirus.
More than 1300 South Africans have tested positive for Covid-19, also known as the new coronavirus. More than 800 000 people have been infected worldwide and 44 000 have died.
Locally, municipal spokesman Ms Thobeka Mtshiselwa referred to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s speech on 30 March about a government programme to be implemented.
Although Mtshiselwa confirmed the infection of a local, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases has indicated that it does not divulge any details other than provincial infection statistics.
The president explained that nationwide screening will be done. Field testers will be able to identify themselves with ID badges, t-shirts, identity documents and will always be accompanied by police officers.
