Matrics from local school in eMbalenhle pledge to be honest during their final exams

MEC for Mpumalanga Department Education called on Grade 12 learners to comply with all the rules and regulations relevant to the National Senior Certificate examination.

eMBALENHLE – Mr Bonakele Majuba, MEC for Mpumalanga Department of Education, visited Kiriyatswane Secondary School where 193 Grade 12 learners signed a pledge to comply with all rules and regulations relating to the NSC exams.

He encouraged the Grade 12 learners to stay focused and to use the remaining days productively towards the preparation for their examinations.

He said the year 2020 has been the most difficult in the education calendar.

However the fact that they made it this far is encouraging and that they should not look back, but soldier on with greater determination to pull through with great results.

“There was a time when all indications were suggesting that the 2020 academic year could be cancelled, but through the resilience of teachers, learners and stakeholders in education, we made it to this point.

“We have faith in your abilities to reach that milestone thus we are here to offer our support and well wishes to all Grade 12 in the province.

“Teachers have been there to equip you with the necessary information in preparation for these examinations and have already advised learners on how to tackle the examinations and we wish to thank them for that.”

He called on learners to desist from any act of dishonesty and misconduct.
He urged the community to create an enabling environment and to provide the required support for the learners to fulfill their dreams and aspirations after secondary schooling.

Mr Bonakele Majuba (MEC for Mpumalanga Department of Education) witnessed the signing of a pledge to comply with all rules and regulations relating to the NSC exams.

Mr Majuba said the department will continue to provide the support programmes such as radio lessons, weekend classes and the DSTV Channel 319 lessons, Woza Matrics 2020 Catch Up on SABC TV.

He said the aim is to reinforce rules and regulations by making learners conscientious to conduct themselves with honesty and integrity through the signing of the National Senior Certificate Pledge.

“This pledge serves as a contract of your conscience, for you not to falter but to adhere to the rules and regulations of the examinations. “These rules and regulations so clearly stipulate that a violation of some sort will result in the disqualification of the candidate concerned,” he said.

Mr Majuba also donated sanitary towels to each female learner.
