Mr Solomon Mahlangu was awarded with a Nursing Excellence Award at Mediclinic Highveld on international Nurses’ Day on Wednesday, 12 May.

Mr Solomon Mahlangu, professional nurse at Mediclinic Highveld, was chosen to receive the award this year.

“He received this symbol of appreciation for the care he provides to patients and for supporting his colleagues,” said Ms Mahlalela.

“We recognise that behind each excellent nurse, is a team of great nurses, making the nomination by those around him even more significant.”

Mr Mahlangu has been working at Mediclinic for eight years and he works in the Neonatal/Critical Care Unit.

His colleagues described him as a person one can always count on and someone who is eager to learn more and impresses people around him with his knowledge and effectiveness.

He is performance-driven and manages challenges on the floor.

“He supports his fellow colleagues daily and acts as a good example of the Mediclinic culture,” said Ms Mahlalela.

In Mr Mahlangu’s motivation letters written by his colleagues, they said: “Solly is a big man with a big heart for his small patients.

“The care, commitment, compassion and patience he shows towards his patients, is commendable. The neonatal unit’s babies are in good hands when he is on duty. He puts everything in to ensure his little patients are taken good care of. The families are comforted by the fact that they can leave their little ones in the hands of a competent and experienced nurse.”
