TYT lends helping hand to students in Gert Sibande
“We would like to extend our gratitude to the National Lottery for funding this initiative,” Mr Lindo Motau, secretary and project manager of TYT said.
ERMELO – Township Youth Transformation (TYT), non profit organisation, has lent a helping hand to students through various outreach initiatives in the Gert Sibande district.
A project they are currently busy with is a virtual music competition which focuses on encouraging learners with a talent for singing.
TYT invites choirs from schools in townships within the Gert Sibande district to compete for a grand prize, trophies and certificates.
Some of the schools that will be participating are:
• Ithafa Comprehensive School in Ermelo.
• Nganana Secondary School in Amsterdam.
• Masizakhe Secondary School in Breyten.
• Ndlela Secondary School in Mkhondo.
• Zinikeleni Secondary School in Carolina.
“We would like to extend our gratitude to the National Lottery for funding this initiative,” Mr Lindo Motau, secretary and project manager of TYT said.
The competition will be taking place during the second week of the second school term.
According to Mr Motau, TYT implemented a registration fee fundraising project that has assisted three students who excelled academically in high school, but had no means to pay for their tertiary registration fee.
“We understand that the National Student Financial Aid Scheme usually pays out late,” he said.
Ms Zanele Msezane, a former pupil of Lindile Secondary School, is pursuing Bcom in accounting at the University of Free State and Ms Vuyiswa Nkosi, a former learner of Ithafa Comprehensive School is studying her BA in politics and international relations.
