UPDATE – Protest action is cleared in Ermelo

Mr Theo Craven, control room operator for ACSU and district manager of South African Community Crime Watch (SACCW) Gert Sibande, has confirmed that all protest action is currently cleared.

“Most protests have been attended to and dispersed by police,” Mr Craven said.

19:23 – Ermelo Police are monitoring several entrances to Ermelo for possible protests.

This came after numerous rumors of protest actions in and around Ermelo surfaced.

According to Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesman for Ermelo Police, protestors are burning tyres in Khayelilhle on the N17, Bethal Road and Cassim Park.

“Police are on both the scenes and monitoring the situation,” Capt Prinsloo said.
