Luyanda Manana from Standerton does well at beauty pageant
Teenager has been watching beauty pageants, fashion shows and models on television for a long time and the seed, for her entry, was sown there.
Luyanda Manana from Phalama Section in Standerton watched from home when she was crowned Miss Teen Commonwealth SA’s first princess.
This virtual crowning ceremony recently took place.
“It means a lot to me although I felt I could have done more to win the title,” the aspiring Miss SA said.
This confident teenager attended a ramp workshop in Bryanston and met the other contestants, describing them as friendly without the green monster lurking.
“They told me how beautiful and natural I am,” she added.
Luyanda is a 16-year-old learner at Khunjuliwe Secondary School and would like, in the not too distant future, to study at university in preferably, the media field.
“I would like to be a television presenter and interview people.”
The question whether she would like to stay at a hostel at the University of Pretoria, was firmly dismissed.
“A flat would be perfect.”
Her mother, Nelisiwe is proud of her and her older sister, Zamangwe accompanied her to the interview with the newspaper.
Luyanda has been watching beauty pageants, fashion shows and models on television for a long time and the seed, for her entry, was sown there.

She does not have a fitness or exercise regime, nor follows a special diet.
A role model however, is former Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa.
Luyanda has not been shirking the charity responsibilities and served a warm, prepared meal to the children at Jabavu Section, donated clothes to the underprivileged at Rooikoppen Taxi Rank and also donated school shoes at Jabavu Section.
