There is hope for Coligny Street in Standerton

In an article in February this year, the communications manager of the municipality, Thobeka Mtshiselwa was quoted as saying the whole line has collapsed.

The sewage problems, notably another of the pressings issues in Coligny Street, will be addressed.

According to a reliable source, a bid committee of the Lekwa Municipality sat the past week for repair to the sewage line.

The date at which work will begin, could not be confirmed.

Sewage flows at some places into residents’ yards.

The Standerton Advertiser investigated the pot-holed road the past week, finding the area at the intersection with Schwickard Street especially in dire need of work.

There also was a blocked manhole at the intersection of Coligny Street and Joubert Street.

This specific manhole has been overflowing into a resident’s yard since February 22.

According to the resident, it happens frequently.

The Standerton Advertiser published an article in November last year about the sewage flowing down the street.

The time-frame given was close on three years.

A WhatsApp-message was sent on Friday, June 24 to the communications department of the municipality, enquiring when work will begin in Coligny Street.
