Bethal residents reach out to the needy
Children enjoy jumping castle at Christmas Lights Festival.
Bethal residents took hands and arranged the Christmas Lights Festival for less fortunate people of Bethal.
This festival was held earlier in December at Laerskool Marietjie van Niekerk and one of the organisers of the event, Jo van den Berg, said this initiative came from Jackie van den Berg and Debbie Jordaan when they realised many people lost a lot in the last couple of years.
“Some children never receive their much anticipated visit from Santa Claus on Christmas Day. This year we decided to make Christmas special for more than 100 children,” said Van den Berg.
People from the Bethal community dressed up as elves and Santa was also there.
The elves entertained the children with games such as an egg run, musical chairs and a big bag race.
There was also a jumping castle where they could get rid of their energy.
One of the motorcycle clubs in Bethal, the Immortal Guardians, also made a special appearance and put on a show for the children.
Van den Berg thanked all the sponsors who made the day possible and each individual who contributed towards the festival.
