Duo sentenced in Bethal Magistrate’s Court
Bethal Magistrate's Court sentenced Clement Vusimuzi Sikhosana (29) and Sifundo Clive Owen Nkosi (29) on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, house-breaking and theft.

Clement Vusimuzi Sikhosana (29) and Sifundo Clive Owen Nkosi (29) were sentenced by the Bethal Magistrate’s Court recently on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, house-breaking and theft.
The sentencing of the duo came after a thorough investigation by investigating officers from Bethal and eMzinoni respectively.
Sikhosana was found guilty and sentenced to 11 years direct imprisonment on counts of possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, house-breaking and theft.
Nkosi was found guilty and sentenced to six years of direct imprisonment for possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.
The court ordered that sentences run concurrently. Both the accused were declared unfit to possess a firearm in terms of Section 103 Act 60/2000 of the Firearm Control Act.

During the sentencing, investigating officers informed the court that on the day of their arrest, Sikhosana and Nkosi were found in possession of suspected stolen property which belonged to a then-police officer.
“The accused unlawfully and internationally broke into and entered an apartment in July 2019 and stole a laptop, firearm and clothing items,” said Sergeant Thomas Mogadime, Bethal police spokesman.
When questioned about the firearm and the laptop, the accused informed the police that they bought them from someone and that they did not know where the person resides.
Police recovered more items stolen by the accused during house-breakings they committed.
Through investigation, it was further found that Nkosi was out on bail for the same offence (house-breaking with the intent to commit a crime) back in April 2022.
